Accustic Arts

Beautiful sound, beautiful engineering

This German company aims to offer a “no-holds-barred approach to quality” coupled with high value performance in its range of electronics, all made in-house. We use their wonderful Drive II CD transport for demonstrations.

The name is derived from ACCUrate acouSTIC ARTS and their philosophy is to provide natural, accurate and detailed sound reproduction, drawing on their experience in recording studios and music production, also on the manufacturing site near Stuttgart.

The range includes CD players and transports, a DAC, a phono stage and a preamp with valve stages, and a number of high power solid state amplifiers, offering from a stereo fully dual mono 450W/4 Ω up to mono blocks supplying 1100W/4 Ω.

An example of the range is the Drive II top-loading CD transport that we use in our demonstrations – a superb performer and a beautiful piece of engineering.

Exemplary construction for stable reading

Drive II CD transport:

  • top loader mechanism with a stabiliser clamp, in its own decoupled housing, shielded from external sound pressure under a heavy sliding cover which is acoustically damped
  • two separate shielded power supplies to separate control functions from signal processing
  • switchable mains filter and a mains polarity indicator and switch
  • great care taken with stability of the whole 18kg structure to allow accurate scanning of the CD disc
