Storm Audio V55 150W amplifier
Posted on 01 October 2014

We used the Storm Audio V55 model in a £70k system for our demonstration at the London Park Inn in March 2011 that prompted the "Far and away the best sound at the show…" comment from hifi+ magazine.

At this year's Whittlebury Hall show (20/21 September) – see the report under News – again we wowed visitors with our demonstration, using this amplifier.

Here are other magazine comments:

You might overlook it because of it's slim appearance and the fact it's an integrated amplifier.  But make no mistake, this is a little giant killer with a massive power supply and amazing transparency.

One of the things that's special about these amplifiers is the Storm Focus facility on the back of the amplifier that matches the circuitry to the loudspeaker load. The improvement in focus and soundstage openness is significant.

Facilities include 5 inputs, including one balanced XLR, Line level output that could be fed to an AV system, separate Preamp outputs and Power amp inputs and a 12V Trigger for remote operation.

This amplifier sold for £3500 and we're offering one in immaculate condition with box, remote and User Guide for only £1825.  It's a genuine, gold-plated bargain and we're sorry to wave it goodbye!

Advantage amplifier
Posted on 14 April 2010

Advantage S150 stereo power amplifier in good condition, little used for a few demonstrations only.
Unusually, it features separate, switchable inputs for music and home theatre sources.

Original price was £3250, now offered for only £1850.

This is an excellent-sounding, fully-balanced amplifier that deserves to be better-known. Though rated conservatively at 150W/channel it has massive power reserves and will drive most speakers very well, thanks to a meaty transformer and capacitor banks. Sweden makes excellent transformers, a critical component in the sound of equipment.

Note the separate XLR and RCA inputs and the switch above the LH channel speaker terminals

An unusual feature of the amplifier is that it has two inputs, balanced XLR and RCA phono, that can be switched between separate sources, eg a high quality music system and a home theatre. This would allow an AV processor to be switched in and avoid spoiling the reproduction of music.

There is a small scuff mark on the top of the amplifier, otherwise it is in good condition.

It is complete with original box and User Guide.
